UV-C radiation is commonly used for germicidal purposes, such as disinfection of air, water, and surfaces in controlled environments like hospitals and laboratories.

  4. Effects on Health: Overexposure to UV radiation, particularly UV-B, can have adverse effects on human health. It can cause sunburn, premature skin aging, and increase the risk of skin cancer. It is important to take precautions when exposed to sunlight, such as using sunscreen, wearing protective clothing, and seeking shade during peak sun hours.

  5. Sources of UV Light: The primary source of UV light is the Sun. However, UV radiation can also be emitted by artificial sources such as tanning beds, certain types of lamps, and industrial processes. It is important to use caution and protective measures when exposed to these artificial sources of UV radiation.

  6. UV Protection: To protect against the harmful effects of UV radiation, it is recommended to use sunscreen with a high sun protection factor (SPF), wear protective clothing that covers the skin, including hats and sunglasses that block UV rays, and limit direct exposure to the sun, especially during peak hours.

UV light has both beneficial and harmful effects, and it is important to strike a balance between enjoying its benefits, such as vitamin D production, and protecting ourselves from its potential harm.
